Neteller and Revolut are both excellent services to send and receive money, but there are a few key differences between the two that are often overlooked. Today, we’re breaking down the major differences between two of the most popular e-money services to see which will serve you the best.
Whether you’re interested in the Revolut and Neteller VIP programmes, fees, cards, or security features, we have answers to that and more coming your way - so stay tuned.
Today’s Topics Include:
In order to properly compare Neteller and Revolut’s services, we need to break down their offerings into five categories: their VIP programmes, security, rewards systems, cards, and fees. Each is super important and will inform the manner in which you use your account(s), so read carefully.
Let’s start with one of the most important aspects of any e-money service - the VIP Programme.
Neteller and Revolut’s VIP programs differ quite drastically. Revolut offers a monthly subscription-based service, whereas Neteller operates on a tier-based VIP system. Traditionally, we’d directly compare the two services, but seeing as they’re so different, we’ll break them down individually for this particular subsection.
First up is Neteller.
Neteller has five tiers, though we’ll only be focusing on four today. Neteller Classic is available to all users immediately upon registration. Following that, there are Neteller Silver, Gold, Diamond, and Exclusive tiers. So - what does Neteller offer VIPs?
After all is said and done, Neteller rewards you for using your own money through their service. Neteller ensures it’s painless, seamless, and (mostly) fee-free for VIP users at all turns. Whether you want to trade forex, invest in cryptocurrency, send and receive money from friends, or play a few hands of online poker, Neteller VIP makes it easier and more rewarding than ever before.
Check out our Neteller VIP guide for more information.
And now we’re doing the same thing, but for Revolut. Revolut allows users to pay a subscription for one of three accounts for personal use along with a Business and Junior account:
Revolut Standard:
This is the base account provided for free to all Revolut users. Revolut Standard users get access to:
Each of these benefits is included in higher tiers, along with other added perks.
Revolut Premium:
Premium is the next step up from Standard. Revolut charges €6.99 per month for this account and provides users with the following benefits along with those from Standard:
The next step up is Revolut Metal - let’s take a look.
Revolut Metal:
And finally, we make it to the top tier of Revolut VIP tiers.
Revolut Metal, while slightly more expensive at €12.99 per month, improves the Revolut user experience across all levels. Users gain access to all of the aforementioned bonuses, along with:
Now that we’ve gotten the three main accounts out of the way, let’s talk about the Junior and Business accounts.
Revolut Junior :
Revolut Junior allows minors (between the age of 7-17) to send and receive money using Revolut.
Users are able to monitor their child’s use and turn off permissions for ATM cash withdrawals, physical and internet purchases, and more. Premium members get access to up to two Junior accounts, and Metal members have up to five Junior accounts.
Revolut Business:
Finally, Revolut Business allows companies to make use of similar services on a much larger scale. As we’re focusing on personal accounts today, we won’t delve into the details of this particular account - but it’s always good to know Revolut Business exists, you know… just in case.
Both services have quite reasonable fees on most transactions. When examining Revolut fees, keep in mind that many fees vary heavily based on the currency, location, and type of transaction - the numbers listed below are for the EEA, UK, and the US, and readers in other areas should read the Revolut Fees page for more details.
The various fees that Revolut and Neteller each charge are listed below:
Subscription Fee:
Revolut: €6.99-12.99 per month, depending on the subscription
Neteller: None
ATM Cash Withdrawal Fee:
Revolut: Free in-network, 2% for out-of-network ATMs
Neteller: 1.75% or €6 maximum
International Payments:
Revolut: Fees change in real-time and will be displayed before the transaction completes and can be found here. International transactions for Premium or Metal users are always free
Neteller: Free for most users, though Neteller Classic users will need to pay the fees listed under “bank transfers”
P2P Fee:
Revolut: Free
Neteller: From 1.45% - 4.49% for Classic users, free for all other users.
Bank Transfers:
Revolut:
Neteller: 2.5% for all deposits using a card (Visa, MasterCard) or international bank transfer, 0-1% for local bank transfers*
Crypto Fee:
Revolut: Free up to €1,000 per month (cryptocurrency value equivalent), 0.5% for all users after €1,000
Neteller: Varies by VIP tier and transaction value.
FX (Currency Exchange) Fee:
Revolut: Variable depending on the current going exchange rate, detailed here.
Neteller: 3.99% (Neteller Classic) to 1.29% (Neteller Exclusive)
Ultimately, both Revolut and Neteller’s fees are quite reasonable and remain entirely within industry standards. Neteller users gain a leg up, though, through VolumeKings.

*Applies to Neteller Classic and Silver users only. Bank transfers are free for Neteller Gold users and above.
Both Neteller and Revolut offer a MasterCard through their service, though how you acquire them is drastically different.
Neteller Fast Silver users and above can opt into the MasterCard and order one, incurring the following fees:
As for the limits and uses for the Neteller MasterCard, they’re as follows:
Revolut users, on the other hand, gain access to a wide range of both physical and virtual cards that are gained through various subscription tiers. Premium users gain access to three prepaid MasterCards and a single virtual MasterCard, whereas Metal users gain the previous cards along with a steel contactless MasterCard.
Revolut’s card limits and uses are as follows:
Ultimately, the Revolut MasterCard is an excellent choice for those who already make use of the service, who travel regularly, or who live outside of the UK and EEA.
If, however, you’re just looking for a way to use your e-wallet funds seamlessly, the Neteller card is cheaper over time (no subscription) and is accepted in a broad range of European countries. It really boils down to what you want as, ultimately, Neteller is less suited to cards than Revolut.
Both Revolut and Neteller are incredibly secure, something that you need to know if you want to trust either with your hard-earned money. Each service makes use of the most advanced modern security features, Secure Socket Layers (SSL), Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), and biometric login via mobile.
More information can be found on the Revolut and Neteller Security pages.
As for rewards, they both offer something to users.
Revolut gives Premium and Metal users access to the Perks Plus program, offering up to 30% cashback,* which can be seen through the Widgets tab of your Revolut app.
Neteller encourages members to take advantage of their VIP system to gain multiple unique rewards alongside reduced fees and raised limits - though they don’t offer cashback, unlike Revolut.
However, Neteller offers a refer-a-friend and Reward Points system to VIP users. The former gives commissions to VIPs for referring others to Neteller, and the latter is a new programme which provides varying degrees of real money in exchange for using Neteller. For every one of your local currency (one Euro, for example), you gain one loyalty point on multiple types of transactions listed here.
Other transactions, such as merchant or crypto transfers, gain .25 and .5 loyalty points per Euro, respectively.
*On eligible purchases; the percentage of cashback varies heavily on several factors.
You cannot send money from Neteller to Revolut directly.
However, you can withdraw and deposit funds from the same bank or card account to both services. While withdrawing funds from Neteller and depositing them into Revolut via bank is certainly not the fastest way around, it does allow users to transfer the funds.
Fees or not, that’s definitely better than being unable to transfer the funds at all.
While both Neteller and Revolut are excellent services in their own rights, which one is best for you will vary heavily based on a few factors. So - ask yourself the following questions to determine which service will suit your needs the best.
Where do you live?
Users in the United States will get more use from Revolut, seeing as Neteller doesn’t operate in the States.
If you live in the EEA or UK, though, Neteller is specifically catered towards users in that area and operates in many other countries with access to dozens of global currencies.
What do you plan to do with the account?
Revolut carries a monthly cost, unlike Neteller. This means that if you plan to consistently use the account, Revolut may offer more to you - especially if you want insurance or fly (for business) regularly.
Neteller, on the other hand, is designed for people who want to make a living off their accounts. Forex traders, crypto enthusiasts, and gamblers alike love Neteller for its incredibly low fees and generous VIP programme, making it ideally suited for those users.
Both Neteller and Revolut offer excellent crypto services, so that particular choice boils down to the amount of crypto you’ll be moving at any given time. If it’ll be in small chunks, you’ll pay less on Neteller - but if it’s in larger bits, you’ll likely get lower fees from Revolut.
Neteller wins out especially well for forex traders, as they don’t have restrictions (and fees) on when you can and cannot trade.
How do you want to spend your money?
If you plan on using your funds online through merchants, Neteller is generally the better option. However, if you prefer to use your e-wallet funds in-person (on a card, physical or virtual), Revolut is pretty heavily centred around seamlessly using their MasterCard.
Are you looking for a personal or business account?
Revolut is ultimately more suited to business accounts as most of its upper-tier benefits involve travel, insurance, and business expenses. Neteller, on the other hand, is catered more specifically to individuals.
While both can serve private account holders, Neteller is certainly more geared to them than Revolut.
How often do you travel (fly) for business?
If you answered any amount more than “very rarely,” Revolut is your option. They offer international travel insurance, concierge assistance, and complimentary lounge passes for delayed flights for up to four people. Neteller is not even slightly involved in this aspect of the industry, making Revolut the clear winner in this regard.
